There is always one quote in one book that can change your life forever. It is so impactful that you fall in love with the mission of your life again. For me it was – “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things and only the wise can see them.”

This comes from one of my favorite books that I recommend to every youngster today. It’s the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. A bestseller and an ocean of wisdom. But, why do I recommend it?

Teenagers and the ones in their twenties are in the transformational phase of their lives. They are led by doubts, phobias, and fears which make them take weak decisions. This book answers a lot of questions and here are a few of the lessons that impressed me –

Lesson 1: Fear is always going to become the bigger obstacle in life than the obstacle itself. Tell your heart that every second spent in pursuit of the task or dream is a rewarding encounter with God Himself.

Lesson 2: Truth always endures time. Being true to oneself will always help you to make the right decisions.

Lesson 3: There is always a silver lining if you choose to see it. And when you do, life fills up with gratitude.

Lesson 4: When you are in the present, you are in the field of possibility where anything can happen. Dwelling on the past or being anxious about the future will only slip away precious time.

Lesson 5: When we strive to become better than we are today, everything around us becomes better too.

Lesson 6: Actions flow out of having confidence in one’s decisions, sitting on the fence leads to nothing. Unknown details of our pursuit can be overwhelming but our decisions take us to better places than we are today.

Lesson 7: Greatest achievements in this world have come when people chose to ignore the word – ‘impossible’. Build a mindset which carries a vision, way bigger than obstacles can ever be.

Lesson 8: The secret of life is to fall down seven times and get back up for the eighth. Never give up.

The Alchemist is a treasure chest and I admire Paulo for the way he grabs the story. Recommend or gift this book to a youngster and make them better prepared for life.Happiness_Memoir.
